The Ford Out Front area at the SEMA Show has been a popular place to hang out and see all manner of performance vehicles doing fun stuff. For 2018, Ford Performance decided to turn up the smoke show already provided by Formula Drift champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. by pulling the company’s 50th Anniversary Cobra Jet Mustang from the showroom floor to bring it outside for some big smokey burnouts. This particular Cobra Jet features a number of performance upgrades that Ford Performance is hoping will put the CJ Mustang back on top in the NHRA Factory Showdown and NMCA Holley EFI Factory Super Cars categories, and the upgrades are currently under consideration with the sanctioning bodies. Until you see it on track, here’s the blown Coyote engine at full song.
Shortly after the 2018 SEMA Show concluded, Ford Performance released a new teaser video of the Cobra Jet’s on-track performance. Enjoy!
