Kicking off the racing season in the Florida sun is a tradition racers and fans look forward to after a long winter. In 2023, NMRA and NMCA will shift gears and launch their seasons at Orlando Speed World in Orlando, Florida.
Home to a storied drag strip, autocross area, and an oval track, the OSW campus offers facilities that will allow both series to expand their motorsport events with even more high-performance excitement beyond the quarter-mile.
“With spectator and enthusiast demand for more motorsport features at each event, NMRA and NMCA have struck a partnership with Orlando Speed World that includes the opportunity for championship and street car drag racing as well as autocross, Australian-style burnout contests, drift exhibitions, and more,” explained Steve Wolcott, President and CEO of ProMedia.
With heads-up drag racing, index racing, True Street action, expansive car shows, and robust manufacturer’s midways, both series’ season openers will offer something for every racing and automotive enthusiast. And, beginning next year, the OSW facility will offer a path to expanding those offerings.
“We keep improving our multi-use facility to make way for events like NMRA & NMCA to come to Orlando…” said Ozzy Moya, owner of Orlando Speed World. “We have a popular quarter-mile drag strip and our oval track has been used for sprint car racing and has been home to Formula Drift for the last six years. We’ve done concerts in the oval, and we’ve done a lot of different stuff over there, opening the avenue for future endeavors.”
The Holley NMRA Ford Nationals launches its 25th-anniversary tour at Orlando Speed World with the iconic NMRA Spring Break Shootout held from March 2-5, 2023. Less than two weeks later the Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals begins its season with the always insane NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem running at the same facility from March 16-19, 2023.
“We can’t wait to bring the season openers of our two national event series to Orlando Speed World,” ProMedia General Manager and National Event Director Rollie Miller said. “Ozzy and his team at OSW are invested in growing and promoting motorsport events at a facility primed to host our event series.”
