FISCUS/KLUGGER RACING (FKR) driver Josh Klugger made history as he clicked off the first official 3-second eighth-mile elapsed time in Pro 275 competition on Saturday, January 20th, 2018, while racing at the WORLD Outlaw Nationals race at Orlando Speed World Dragway in Orlando, Florida.

Klugger, who concluded his killer 2017 season by scoring the coveted NMCA Mickey Thompson Radial Wars championship title and a prestigious win in Pro 275 at the “No Mercy 8” race at South Georgia Motorsports Park, put his focus on achieving a new goal for 2018 – being the first to the 3s in Pro 275 trim – and quickly made it a reality.

With Pro Line Racing 481X power under the hood of his Racecraft-built, twin Garrett turbocharged FKR ’93 Ford Mustang, Klugger knew he had the right combination to do the job. Mastermind tuner, Jamie Miller, was on site to finesse the FuelTech GT500 engine management system, and together, the team made it happen.

Klugger inched towards the goal early on in the weekend, clicking off a string of low 4.0X-second eighth-mile passes during testing and Pro 275 qualifying and getting ever closer to the milestone moment. As conditions improved and the excitement grew around the impending accomplishment, Klugger knew it was only a matter of time before the numbers cooperated. On Saturday evening, it all came together for Klugger and he made history as he clocked a 1.084-second 60-foot time, a 2.736-second blast to the 330-foot mark, and capped it off with his record-setting 3.975 at 198.85 mph eighth-mile pass. The run also rightfully placed him at the top of the qualifying sheet in the number one spot.

His incredible performance earned him a bye in round one of Pro 275 eliminations, and Klugger cruised through to the semi-finals to face off against Chris Tuten. Unfortunately, a hurt transmission meant Klugger was unable to continue, but the FKR crew still was able to enjoy celebrating their record-setting run.

For those interested in owning a proven, championship-winning car, Klugger’s record-setting radial tire Fox body is currently listed for sale. The killer Racecraft chassis and potent PLR power are the ultimate performance package, and the lucky new owner will surely continue in Klugger’s footsteps to ink their own success stories.
