As the boost pressures in race and street engines climb into the stratosphere, so does the need to have durable engine components to withstand the extreme cylinder pressures. Callies is expanding its Ultra connecting rod line-up with the addition of the Enforcer, designed for the harshest boosted engines. Beginning with the material, Callies engineers went with 4330 Vanadium enhanced steel that is a a much stronger alloy and capable of being heat treated to higher levels than other metal materials. Once the material was selected, the next step was the design of the connecting rod for superior strength. The tower flanges are robust in order to prevent twist and flex and the team increased the mass and pressure angle arches for superior pin stability. AMPCO 45 pin bushings are employed to handle the heavy load applications. The connecting rod caps are fastened together using extended mating faces and bolt gussets for superior bearing housing rigidity.
