Everyone’s favorite YouTube sensation Cleetus McFarland isn’t just funny guy who made it big on the Internet. He is also a legit enthusiast who has no problem slamming the gears in his famed Corvette nicknamed “Leroy.” The C4 Corvette has been stripped of its body all in the name of internet fame but on the business-end of the build sits a sick twin turbocharged LS engine from Texas Speed and Performance. It boasts a displacement of 427ci and a set of Precision 66mm turbochargers help it make ridiculous power. RPM Transmission is responsible for building the Tremec Magnum six-speed box. Last night, at Bradenton Motorsports Park, McFarland dropped into the 7s with a best of 7.82 at 176 mph!
The record run comes just days after McFarland had grabbed the all-time quickest stick-shift pass (ed note: for an H-pattern shifted trans) with an 8.10 at 178 mph. They squeezed out a head gasket on that run and he vowed to fix it and return to action. Two days later, the car had new gaskets and McFarland shifted the Tremec transmission to perfection as the car streaked to a 7.82 at 176 mph. They are calling it the stick-shift record for a Corvette, however we can’t think of a car that has gone quicker with a Tremec six-speed or even any other H-pattern shifted manual transmission.
