PRI Show: Small Turbo, Big Power – New Products from Garrett Turbochargers | Presented by Nitto Tire

The group at Honeywell Garrett is staying a turn ahead of the competition with their new G Series line, the most powerful small frame turbochargers on the market.

The new Garrett GT25-550 and GT25-660 turbos were developed to work with 1.4L-3.0L engines and can produce 300-600 horsepower from an incredibly small package.

Featuring the latest innovations in turbo technology, Garrett’s G Series turbos boast advanced features that were custom-tailored to meet the demands of hard core competitors including all-new G Series compressor wheel aerodynamics. Turbine wheel aero has also been improved, and G Series turbine wheels are constructed from Mar-M alloy rated up to 1,050°C.

Fully machined speed sensor and pressure ports come standard on G Series turbos, which are available in both standard and reverse-rotation configurations. Additionally, stainless steel wasted and non-wastegated turbine housing options are available.

To help ensure a proper, problem-free installation, oil restrictor and water fittings are included with each G Series unit along with four water jacket ports, while a one-piece center housing and backplate assembly promise improved durability and longevity.

The features all add up to improved boost response and tons of performance from a small package.

More big news from Garrett today is the fact that the group is being spun off from its parent company, Honeywell, into its own publicly traded, independent entity. The move, which is expected to be finalized mid-year 2018, means the new Garrett (official name TBD) will be better able to meet the demands of racers by responding to their needs more quickly and with more flexibility. Fear not, though, as it’ll be business as usual in the meantime.
