If you were attending Street Car Takeover at Bradenton Motorsports Park this past weekend, you may have witnessed a historic event take place. Yandro Ulloa was busy ripping gears in his yellow 1998 SVT Cobra and snagged a record-setting quarter-mile pass of 8.47 seconds at 169 mph! That officially makes his car the fastest stick shift Mustang in the world.
“From a simple encouragement to staying up with me until 6:30+ a.m., the road has been very long,” reads a post from Yondro. “According to people that follow this, we officially have the fastest stick shift Mustang in the world!”
Boosted by a Borgs S364 twin-turbo setup, the Minion still retains the original stock 4.6L block, crank, B-heads, and intake built and tuned by Levin Motorsports. Gears bang through a RPM Transmissions modified TREMEC T-56 Magnum that’s paired with a McLeod RXT1200 clutch. To help hook and go, a UPR suspension was added to the front and rear. High Revolution Fab & Performance is to thank for the suspension and fabrication work and mechanical support thanks to Certified Transmission, Inc. (BNR). Stopping power is provided by Aerospace Components, and engine management by an AEM Infinity Series ECU.
“I’ll be racing everywhere I can get myself to,” Yandro said when asked about the upcoming NMRA racing season. “I’ll be racing QA1 True Street and possibly the Cobra vs. GT500 Shootout.” It looks like we’ll be seeing him at NMRA Bradenton and NMCA in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Other races to see the Minion in action will be at Mod Nationals, FL2K, possibly TX2K, Steeda Pony Wars, most of the local cash days by Stick Shift Mafia, and anything else he can get his hands on.
